Mountshannon Arts presents
Art and Community 25 years
To celebrate the 25th Mountshannon Arts Festival, we have commissioned the production of a short film to look at the history of the event, and the importance of Art and Community for a healthy society.
Opening of Mountshannon Arts Festival 2021
with Patricia Moriarty, University of Limerick Arts Officer
The opening of our Festival this year is quite special. Special because for the 1st time, there is a screen in front of us all. And special because for the 25th time, Mountshannon Arts will unfold its Festival, aiming to stimulate and cultivate creative expression through artistic ventures, reflecting and inspired by our unique community and setting. We are pleased to have Patricia Moriarty, University of Limerick Arts Officer, give voice to this unique moment for a Festival.
Art and Community 25 years
This week, Mountshannon Arts met pupils from Iniscealtra National School, Mountshannon to talk about the festival. The very first question was “why is there an Arts Festival?”. This tricky and almost philosophical question is brilliantly answered in this beautiful short film. A production by film makers Alfie Hollingsworth, Bonnie Boyle and Emma Sams.
Adriana von Runic
Adriana von Runic played an instrumental role in the inauguration of the first Mountshannon Arts Festival which was hosted in her home in Mountshannon, overlooking Inis Cealtra. With Covid restrictions in place during the filming of our 25th anniversary film it was not possible for Adriana to be in Ireland during the filming. We include this interview shot from her home in Slovenia.
The Film Makers were:
Alfie Hollingsworth
Alfie Hollingsworth grew up in East Clare, developing a passion for filmmaking from an early age. He went to The National Film School in Dun Laoghaire to further his burgeoning career in film. He took a liking to the visual side of things and decided to peruse a path in cinematography. He’s a multi-award winning filmmaker who hopes to remain in Ireland and help develop the industry here. On his days off you can catch him wandering in the countryside or staring listlessly at the wall waiting for the next bit of work to come in.
