My paintings are my response to how I experience the landscape. In particular those moments of visual alteration when its components — stone, earth, sky and water — appear to merge with a shift of light.

Wind, rain and sounds interconnect with its physical elements, and there is a sense of ‘oneness’ that is also self inclusive. The Burren has been an inspiration to me for many years. From 2002-13 I lived in Ballyvaughan, close to the shore at Bishopsquarter and I  worked there as a painter from my studio.  My paintings evolved through my daily exposure to the Burren shore and landscape and observing the visual transformations wrought by changing light and the elements. Since 2018 we live in Feakle village, East Clare.

After studying Guitar making at the London College of Furniture, I left the city to head West to Agricultural college, the space a tonic after the confines of the metropolis.

The journey West and the search for more space continued, ending in the inspirational surroundings of East Clare, with its Black Bogs, slow hills, violent waters, punk weather and littered history.

These things, essentially, the elements of my creations.
