Quarter Jazz
QUARTER JAZZ is a recently formed band of musicians who share a love of jazz.
Catherine Patience, vocalist, is reviving an early interest in jazz and was introduced to Lucy Thomas on clarinet and Yam Aquino on drums when they recently moved to Whitegate, all the way from Shanghai, where they made and taught music for almost fourteen years. It wasn’t long before these three were joined by Tom Fahy from Loughrea who plays guitar and a day doesn’t go by without playing and he regularly performs in local pubs. And last but certainly not least Rory Maloney on keyboard. Rory has recently graduated from Cork School of Music and is in great demand as a teacher and performer.
All band members enjoy the process of exploring and learning jazz standards from the masters.

Jyoshna La Trobe
Joyshna La Trobe is a singer/songwriter, composer, recording artist born in the UK, raised in Aotearoa/NZ and most often found in Ireland these days. Her original compositions are inspired by experiences of family or whakapapa, the wild landscape of Aotearoa and Ireland, emerging spiritual insights, spliced with her mother’s lyrics and powerful collaboration with others. These songs are really journeys about birth, separation, connection, deep love and transformation.
Jyoshna has written and recorded over 30 albums of original material, performing at festivals in Brazil, the UK, Philippines, Germany, New Zealand, Europe, and the USA. Having recently returned from New Zealand playing at Evolve festival and other venues, she is now performing an acoustic set of original songs accompanied by Kavita Neumannova (khol drum and percussion) and Manasvinii (Backing vocals), and Adam Rowatt (Acoustic bass).
Reviews of her most recent album Unity Hours IV include: It’s just an absolute masterpiece, it’s so, so, so beautiful. ‘My Little Isabel’ it’s incredibly raw and very courageous, hugely personal. ‘We are Not alone’ looks at diversity. “If I could swim the ocean” ..its highly visual imagery adding to that sense of longing, every word, every chord has a place. Jack Mc Carthy (2022, Ireland)
Coupled with that wonderful voice and simple but empathetic arrangements for guitar, banjo, sarangi, piano, cello and percussion, this music gently soars with a folk-cum-hymnal quality. A unique talent who draws from Western and Eastern musical traditions with rare confidence. Graham Reid, 2022.
