The East Clare Handbell Ringers

Friday 27 May

St Caimin’s, Church of Ireland - 7.45pm

The East Clare Handbell Ringers will welcome you musically to Mountshannon Arts Festival 2022 official opening.

Hand Bells have a long history, and in the past groups may have had up to 172 bells. Our local group cannot come close to that, but even with a dozen bells, the sound is incredibly beautiful.

If you have never heard a group playing handbells, do not miss this opportunity.

Sound Installation

Iniscealtra National School

Saturday 28 May and Sunday 29 May

1 to 6pm

Dagmar’s, Main street

I think it's time we stop

Children, what’s that sound?

Everybody look whats going down

Welcome to our sound installation 2022 where children are heard but not seen. Stop in your tracks and listen once more with the ears of a child. Hear the children of Iniscealtra NS present to you their poetry, thoughts and the sweetest music of all – children’s laughter. As part of our Creative schools we have been on a journey exploring our audio environment and encouraging children to share their voice. Our ‘Pop-Up’ radio is hosted by the children as they broadcast to the student and parent body. The children have created sound-scapes for Halloween and Christmas with Slavek Kwi. They have explored rhythm and song with Cli Donnellan and Rosie Ní Ghallóglaigh. Now, let these young artists take you across the bridge from silence to the realm of sound where much that is magical can be found.

If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear!

A feast for the ears and heart

Where's the Words

Watch out for chalk arrows around the village.

If you follow these, you will find a short poem or an inspirational quote.

Please feel free to add your own.

Flags for Peace

Mountshannon Main Street will have an extra bit of colour, added over the festival in the form of several flags.

These flags are from countries where armed conflicts continue, and/or peoples human rights are being taken away.

Whilst the people of the Ukraine deserve our support and compassion, and what they are suffering is appalling, let us not forget those struggling in other less 'newsworthy' places around the world.

Of course there are many more flags we could have flown, but these few serve to represent our support for people everywhere, who are suffering through war and repression.

Art Exhibition

As well as the Mountshannon Arts Shop and Information Point, the Aistear Building [in the Maze] will host an exhibition by three artists:

Alexandra Thompson

Ellen Murtagh

Peter Binder
