A PROJECT BY WAYWORD THEATRE

AS PART OF MOUNTSHANNON ARTS FESTIVAL 2021

The Concept

This month you have spent one year of your life living through a global pandemic. Pre-pandemic you had no idea that in 2020 the whole world would come to a crashing halt. If you could send yourself a message through time, from the present day to you to before the pandemic began - what would you say?

Wayword Theatre and the Mountshannon Arts  Festival are calling for collaboration from you for the creation of To Myself: Before, a performance created from the messages people submit.  

Criteria:

• The message can be in any form (letter, text, tweet, etc.)

• It is sent from you in the present to your pre-pandemic self.(any time/date/year)

• Submissions can be real or fictional

• There is no minimum or maximum length

• The piece can be anonymous or your name can be included in the list of contributors – please specify when submitting

• All writers are encouraged to submit whether a regular scribbler or someone who has never written before.

• Please note, as this is a theatre performance, the pieces will be collated by WayWord Theatre. As such, submissions may be used in their entirety or excerpts of the work may be used as part of the overall project at the discretion of Wayword Theatre.

• The format of the final performance i.e. whether a video, audio or stage production will decided closer to the festival and dictated by the submissions received and whatever Covid restrictions might be in place at rehearsal and performance time.

Deadline for submissions:         Friday 9th April 2021

Performance:                                May/June 2021
