The Argentinean tango duet Vito Sputnik will recreate a “Milonga”: a traditional social event from Argentina where the attendants meet to listen and dance tango.
The event will start with a beginner’s tango lesson lead by Agustina Taborda. In this lesson you will learn your first tango movements and the body language needed to share this dance with another person. It is a dance for two, but you won’t need to attend with a partner: we will rotate the couples and the roles of leader and follower to get the most of the dance experience. It won’t be necessary to have any special type of shoes, but we recommend to pick from your wardrobe shoes that will stick less to the floor if possible.
During and after the lesson we will play selections of tango recordings from different iconic Orquestas Típicas, such as Juan D’arienzo, Osvaldo Pugliese and Carlos di Sarli. You will be welcomed to continue dancing or to just sit and listen.
To close the event Vito Sputnik (Ernesto Inouye and Agustina Taborda) will perform live traditional tangos in Bandoneón and Piano, once more inviting the audience to join on the dance floor or to simply listen, watch and enjoy the atmosphere.
If you want to learn your first tango steps, listen to an authentic and powerful tango duet and submerge yourself in Argentinean culture, join in!
Vito Sputnik is an Argentinean instrumental tango duet formed by Agustina Taborda on bandoneón and Ernesto Inouye on piano. They are part of a new generation of tango musicians from the city of Rosario, which had its origins with the “Orquesta Municipal Escuela de Tango”, directed by Javier Lo Re.
Their repertoire takes up the compositions of the legendary orchestras of the first half of the 20th century: Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan D’Arienzo, Carlos di Sarli, among others. These pieces were made for social dancing, and Vito Sputnik perpetuates this legacy performing with a vigorous and dynamic style.
