About the Artist
Mel White aka Maximillist Art, is a a self taught Pop Art Influenced Artist. She has been a professional artist since 2014, showing artistic work in both individual and collective shows around Europe.
She takes most of her inspiration from her photographs taken on her travels. Using real life photographic situations as inspiration and exaggerate them in an animated form with vivid colours, trying to highlight the controversiality from that region/place.
Her inspiration started from the 1960’s and early 70’s, street art, graffiti, and the combination of psychedelic images and design in both fashion and art were prolific, these were a strong grounding on which she based her early development. She was inspired also by the posters and prints of artists such as Andy Warhol, the abstract designs of Picasso, and the imagination used in the creation of works by Salvador Dali & Frida Kahlo.
“All of these artists have left a strong influence on me.”
Her new home is now Mountshannon, this has brought on a whole new creativity. The abundance of nature and such a cultural mix of people, the next step of progression is focusing her creativity on all things from here.
